It is just possible that you and your dog
share the same taste in movies, places to run, places to sleep and that you
both love that same blanket and usually try to steal it from one another.
However, when it comes to snacks, although they will try and take your food,
you need to put
that to a stop because you just might be hurting your dear pet. Dogs have
different digestive systems than we do. They cannot process the food in the
same manner as humans, so it is important that you have a very good knowledge
about which food you can and which you cannot share. Here they are, divided
into a couple of groups:
Veggies
When it comes to vegetables it is well
known that sweet potatoes are a great source of vitamins B and C that are
needed in your dog’s diet. They also should eat their pumpkin, baby carrots and
green beans. Pumpkin is great because of the fibre it contains. This makes bowel
movement easy and fast and it prevents obstructions. Besides that, it is
rich in vitamin A, the same reason why you should give your dog baby carrots. For
a great source of manganese and vitamins K and C, you should add a little bit
of green beans as well.
Grains
Everybody knows that a little bit of rice
is welcome in your dog’s diet. Also, besides rice, you should give them some
flax seed. Besides the obvious fibre ingredient, it also has very important
omega 3 fatty acids. With a diet that is rich with these acids, your
dog’s coat will truly shine. For vitamin B, protein and more fibre, feed
your dog oatmeal for breakfast.
Fruits
For a great source of potassium, you should
give your dog bananas. Apples are great because of the vitamins B and C that
your dog really needs. If you dry them, they will replace the expensive dog
treats that you spend your money on. Also, you should try and give your puppy
some blueberries since they are packed with antioxidants
that will keep your pup healthy.
Meat
We all know that dogs are carnivores and
that the meat
is the base of their diet. If you want to keep your dog healthy and on a
balanced diet, you should stay away from giving them fat trimmings and replace
it with cooked poultry instead.
Other
There are many other things that you can
share with your dear buddy. For example, eggs for protein (avoid raw because of
possible poisoning), peanut butter for vitamins and so on. You can even give
your dog some cheese and yoghurt because of the calcium and protein, but make sure
that they are not lactose intolerant.
Using these tips, you will always be on the
safe side with your dog. Make sure that you have done a thorough research
before you give them something that is not on this list.
