Merry Dogmas!

Sunday 15 November 2015

Happy Birthday Baird!

Three today, you are going to be the dog that gives me a mental break down, you are harder work than the other 3 combined, you are demanding and at times stressful, but I love you more than I can put in words.
They say you don't get the dog you want, you get the dog you need. It's true in your case, Happy Birthday my little boy!

Product Review- Anicura Dog Shampoo & Spray

Canine health is not just limited to diet and exercise, there are many other aspects that you can do to keep your furry friend happy. Skin care is often an aspect that people can overlook, but dogs can have sensitive, flaky, itchy and bad skin days too!

We had the pleasure of being sent some products from Anicura to try.  I'm very particular with what I use on the pack, they are raw fed, naturally flea'd and wormed and no longer have yearly vaccinations but instead have titre tests. A lot of dog shampoos and skin products on the market have numerous chemicals and artificial additives that can in fact exacerbate some dog skin, but Anicura's products contain no nasties, only pure natural ingredients. Therefore they are ideal products for pets with sensitive skin.
I had the pleasure of trying the Dog Spray and Dog Shampoo. Baird and Daisy Boo both have some sort of skin problem and I was eager to try (and I'm sure they where too!)

Baird suffers terribly from itchy skin, he will sit and scratch himself for hours unless I stop him. I have used the Anicura Dog Spray several times a day for over a week and it certainly has made a difference,  he is less itchy, his coat looks healthier and he smells a bit nicer! The smell was a little bit over powering for him at first however
I opted to try the shampoo & spray  with Daisy Boo (Baird is terrified of the bath!) as she suffers from dry skin that can be worsened by certain triggers which gives her awful red sores on her stomach and legs.
It's a superb Shampoo, not overly soapy and washes off wonderfully, leaving coats fresh and shiny.
Another positive is that the bottle the shampoo is in is rather strong- I only say this after Boo knocked it off the bath edge and onto the floor- it made a bang but didn't break or crack. Bonus! :)

Sana and Dante do no suffer from problem skin, however the shampoo is made from all natural ingredients so I used it on both of them too again with fantastic results.

In conclusion it has been a pleasure to use these products and results have been seen already! Anicura also offer numerous other products for both dogs and cats. Give them a visit here.

The Lake District

Sana enjoying the snow on Latrigg
Hello everyone, we hope you all had a loved up Valentine day.
As most of you know we live in Cumbria, right on the edge of the Lake District National Park, we do lots of hiking with Mum and the Lakes is like a big doggy playground!
The Lake District is such an amazing stunning place. It is home to Englands biggest mountain Scafell Pike (3209ft), longest lake, Windermere (11.23 miles) and lake Wast Water (258ft)

The Lake District is very dog friendly, with over 3,100km of rights of way footpaths for you and your four legged friend to enjoy. There are countless landscapes to enjoy, forest to dig up and sniff, mountain tops to conquer and lakes to swim.

Dante, Baird and my ever helpful other half by the cairns below Great Burney.
As the landscape is so varied it suits any kind of dog. If your dog is very active you can walk for as long as you want reaching several fell summits in a day (if you are very fit!) a walk round the flatter levels for the less active or less brave! One thing to remember though, the Lakes is home to a lot of livestock, especially sheep and it is very important to keep your dog under control at all times around them.

Oh, there are even CAVES to explore!

Once you and your furry friend have hiked, swam and any other outdoor activity, the many little towns of the Lakes are very dog friendly with many of the shops, pubs and restaurants accepting well behaved dogs. So you really can enjoy every moment together.
Don' mind me Mum, just browsing.
With the Lakes being so dog friendly, it seems only fit that there is accommodation that is the same way, Lake Lovers offers an amazing range of dog friendly cottages to make you visit extra special.

Hope you visit soon!

Snowy Hike up Black Combe

A very belated Happy New Year all!
We have been having so much fun lately, the Lake District had it's usual sprinkling of snow on the higher ground so we made it our mission to hike and find some. Now I'm a bit rubbish with the cold so I had to wear my thermals, my jacket and some snow booties!
Stay warm all!
